Human-centred Design

This project brief required a new design of the Colleges central office employing a human-centred design approach.

The design incorporate natural elements such as natural light, wood and plants to create an emotional connection between the office and its inhabitants.

The lighting used in this project was from a company called Lluria as they provide circadian lighting which aims to mimic the natural light and dark cycles that regulate our bodies internal clock. This lighting can improve employees productivity, mental and physical health.

By combining this strip lighting with the sound absorbing bamboo installation I created a form of acoustic lighting, which helps reduce noise levels in the office.

Aloe Vera plants have been used in the office design due to their anti-inflammatory and air purifying properties which can reduce stress and anxiety. English Ivy was incorporated into the design as it can remove harmful toxins from the air and is believed to be good for those suffering from allergies.

The project was completed as part of my HND studies.
